Bryce Johnson has been designing accessible experiences and technology for over 15 years. Bryce worked across Microsoft teams to launch the assistive technologies on the Xbox One, including Copilot. He initiated and designed the very first Inclusive Tech Lab at Microsoft. Bryce is also a member of the Xbox Adaptive Controller team ever since he was a lead on its inception as a hack project at the 2016 Microsoft Oneweek Hackathon. He now focuses on ensuring all Microsoft devices are designed and built to be inclusive.

SightlessKombat is an accessibility consultant. He has been able to provide advice to several studios on how to improve their products, providing feedback that led to the creation of innovative accessibility features In 2017, he undertook research for a travelling Fellowship with the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust (WCMT), taking him around the United States conversing with several major studios and game-related companies on the topic of accessibility in the videogame industry.

After a Master‘s degree in Ergonomics at ENJMIN (the French National School of Video Games and Interactive Media), Helios has worked for a year on Accidental Queens’ audio based title Alt-Frequencies. As user researcher and UX designer, his role was making their game accessible, especially to blind and visually impaired people. He also had to ensure every design decision would be in accordance with the initial plan to make the game accessible to as many people as possible.

Dr. Johanna Pirker is a computer scientist focusing on game development, research, and education and an active and strong voice of the local indie dev community. She has lengthy experience in designing, developing, and evaluating games and VR experiences and believes in them as tools to support learning, collaboration, and solving real problems. Johanna has started in the industry as QA tester at EA and still consults studios in the field of games user research. In 2011/12 she started researching and developing VR experiences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At the moment she teaches game development at TU Graz and researches games with a focus on AI, HCI, data analysis, and VR technologies. Johanna was listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list of science professionals.

Dávid is a Director and Lead of Previsualization of Budapest based Digic Pictures. Studying arts from an early age, he got his Master Degree in Animation at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest, graduating with the multi-award winning animated 3D short, Paper World. David joined Digic right from school in 2012, where he has been working on CG cinematic trailers for games like Assassin’s Creed, Uncharted, Witcher III, and directing trailers and cutscenes for Call of Duty, Destiny and League of Legends.

Michael Frei studied Animation at the Lucerne School of Art and Design (HSLU) and cofounded the production company Playables in 2015. He is especially known for his two award winning short animated films ’Not About Us‘ (2012), which screened at the festivals in Annecy, Baden, Tallinn and Leipzig, among others, and ‘Plug & Play’ (2013), which became a big festival hit and was awarded at numerous international film festivals.

He is a generalist with experiences in game design, programming, graphic design and animation, interested in working at the intersection of design, art and technology. Jaroslav Švelch is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bergen and assistant professor at Charles University, Prague. He is the author of the upcoming monograph Gaming the Iron Curtain: How Teenagers and Amateurs in Communist Czechoslovakia Claimed the Medium of Computer Games (MIT Press, 2018). He has published work on history and theory of computer games, on humor in games and social media, and on the Grammar Nazi phenomenon. He is currently researching history, theory, and reception of monsters in games.

Peter is the CEO and development director of Games Farm development studio and Grindstone production company. He worked on more than 20 cross platform games with various partners and his games were played by millions of players across the world. He also actively participates in the development of the Slovakian gaming industry. His most recently released game is Shadows: Awakening (2018) and currently is working on not yet announced title with Funcom scheduled for 2021 release.

Andrej Vojtáš is the founder of Poetic, the story-focused indie game studio working on it’s debut title Sacred Fire, an innovative psychological role-playing game. Inspired by Pen & Paper and Choose Your Own Adventure experiences, the game focuses on player’s freedom of choice and calculating the probabilities of success based on your character’s emotional state. Andrej works at Poetic as game designer, scriptwriter and character artist, so it’s safe to assume that while writing this text he was tweaking render settings on CG hair computations running in the background.
